I was totally disappointed as he didn't referred me to the right place for next treatment I needed. I believe GP should listen to patient and be able to take right action in terms of sending patient to the specialist when it is needed. GP should not try to discharge as soon as he can and get rid of patient. this attitude should be changed.
I am sorry that you feel disappointed and not been heard. As a GP I treat patients with a variety of common medical conditions. If in the primary care setting no solution or acceptable treatment can be found, patients are referred to hospitals for specialist treatment. Unfortunately it is not always my decision if a patient can be seen in secondary care because GPs have to follow strict referral pathways and prioritise patients according to needs and urgency of the problem. The NHS is under considerable pressure to use its resources efficiently, and as a GP I am expected to achieve this goal through a gate keeping function. I understand that this can be very frustrating for individual patients and sometimes delay having tests and investigations in less urgent cases. This system allows that emergencies, the very ill patients and cancer patients are seen quicker. From your comments I am not able to identify you and cannot recall our consultation but would welcome you back to see me and discuss your concerns in person so that we can resolve this situation.
I had to have a scan done on my shoulder . I was so relieved and pleased to be told that I could have it done at the surgery. I was seen by DR Schuttpelz. He was his usual lovely, friendly self. He welcomed me with a smile and asked me how I was. He did the scan and very quickly reassured me that there was nothing untoward going on.
Being able to have the scan done by him was brilliant. It meant I didn't have to trek down to UCLH(again !) and because of that I didn't need so much time taken from work. This made the whole thing so much less stressful for me.
I would highly recommend DR Schuttpelz.
Dr Schuttpelz is a very kind GP it's always really good to see him,he takes the time to listen and is also very helpful.
I know when I book appointment to see DR Schuttpelz I will get the help and advice which I need
why can't all doctors be like him
He actually listens to your concerns and advises and treats accordingly. Nothing seems to be too much bother and he OBVIOUSLY cares for his patients.
A respectful and great general knowledge of how to best treat my symptoms and has referred me to the right people
